  The book spends some considerable time developing the lifestyle and gifts of the two primary characters, Mason Jerah, a Shade, and Alaric Lambrecht, who is a Shadow. Both are being thrust into roles much greater than anything they had experienced before 4/4(13).   After having read the first 6 books in the series I was a bit hesitant to start "In Shade and Shadow" for a couple of reasons. First, like many of the reviews here, I wasn't sure that a book with just Wynn as the main character was going to live up to all the previous excitement generated by /5(56). N. K. Jemisin's Shades in Shadow is a modest collection - three stories set in the universe of her Inheritance trilogy - but a welcome one. In a sense, these small gems are almost sidebars to the main story told in the trilogy, scenes that were not essential to the overall narrative, but enhance our understanding of some of the characters.4/5. Shades of Shadow by Pushpam Singh is a uniquely different concept of presenting romance. This is a fiction/ romance genre book written in a philosophical manner.
